The rules
Underage Gambling Policy
Grande Prairie Casino is for adults 19 and over. No exceptions. Here you'll see how we verify age, what we do if a minor slips past, and how families can keep young people off gambling sites.
Who can play here?
Adults. Only adults. Opening an account, depositing or betting with us requires being 19 or older.
Our games, promotions and Grande Prairie Rewards are built for grown-ups. Neither our site nor our marketing is designed to attract young people, and we never knowingly let anyone under 19 onto our tables.
Sign-ups are available only where the law in your area permits them, and our age, ID and anti-money laundering checks meet Canadian standards.
How do you confirm a player's age?
Saying you are 19 is not enough. We check.
- Every player signs up with a full name, a home address and a date of birth.
- Before any deposit, we run electronic checks on those details and confirm where the player is connecting from.
- If our electronic age check can't confirm your details, we'll ask for government-issued photo ID, like a driver's licence or passport.
- The name on each payment method must match the name on the account, and we check it.
- We repeat checks whenever something looks wrong, such as a change in details, activity that does not fit the account or a tip from a third party.
No verification, no deposit. That rule does not bend.
What happens if you find a minor using an account?
We act immediately.
- We lock the account on the spot, then close it.
- Every bet the minor placed is void, and any winnings are forfeited.
- Ownership confirmed? Any deposits are returned straight to the original payment method.
- All marketing to the account stops.
If an adult opened the account and let a minor play on it, the adult has broken our Terms & Conditions. We will close that account and may refuse any future account from the same person.
If the facts point to fraud or to someone else's identity or card being misused, we may report the case to the appropriate Canadian authorities.
Which home filters and parental controls can I set up?
Our checks are strong. Controls at home add another layer.
- Blocking software: Gamban and GamBlock block access to gambling sites and apps across the devices where they are installed.
- Device settings: phones, tablets and computers have built-in parental controls that restrict apps, websites and purchases on a child's profile.
- Home network filters: many routers and internet providers can filter gambling content for every device on your Wi-Fi.
- App store restrictions: age limits on app downloads stop casino apps from being installed on a young person's device.
None of these tools is perfect alone. Used together, they make it much harder for a curious teen to land on a gambling site.
How can I protect young people on a family device?
A laptop on the kitchen table or a tablet passed around the couch can open the door to an adult account. A few habits keep it shut:
- Log out of your casino account every time you finish.
- Don't let your browser save your casino login password.
- Give adults and young people their own user profiles.
- Lock your screen with a PIN or password young people do not know.
- Keep bank cards out of reach and do not store card details in your browser.
- Talk openly with teens about gambling and why it is for adults.
Worried a young person is already gambling? Free help is out there. Our Play Responsibly page lists organisations that support families, including 211 Alberta.
How do I report a suspected underage player?
Suspect someone under 19 is using an account here? Email [email protected]. Share what you know, like the name or email linked to the account. Every detail helps our investigation.
Every report is taken seriously and handled in confidence. We will investigate and act on what we find. Our Privacy Notice explains how we treat the information you send us.
